This project involves transforming a Carbon Cub S2 RC plane into an autonomous aircraft by upgrading its electronics and control systems. The flight computer is based on a Teensy 4.0 microcontroller, responsible for managing flight surface control, stability, and autonomous navigation. A Radiolink R9DS receiver and AT9s Pro transmitter allow for manual control, while a GY-521 MPU-6050 accelerometer/gyroscope and GPS receiver provide stability and positional data. A Lidar sensor will be integrated for automatic landings.
The initial software is built on dRehmFlight Beta 1.3, modified to support autonomous flight plans and telemetry transmission. Future iterations will involve custom-developed flight control software.
